If you suffer from toenail fungus, there are measures you can take to prevent yourself from getting it over and over again. A few precautions can go a long way with this condition. First you will need to know the places where the fungus likes to live and breed.

Toenail fungus likes warm, moist, dark places. These places can include gyms, public showers and pools and shoes that have been repeatedly warn without socks. Excess water and sweat coupled with warmth makes an excellent place for fungus to grow. Also, nail salons can be an ideal place to catch this condition. Spa tubs used for pedicures may harbor this fungus.

In order to keep toenail fungus away for good, changes in hygiene need to be made. It is important to never share shoes with anyone. Make sure that you have a good pair of shower shoes or flip flops for walking around public pool areas or when using public showers. If you go to nail salons for pedicures, make sure they use very stringent disinfectant practices.
